Restoration interventions

As a huge monumental complex the Charterhouse of Calci needs periodical maintenance works. The Municipality of Calci and the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Pisa have often supported some restorations, but these interventions appear to be insufficient to the safeguard of the whole complex according to the large size of the building and its several conservative problems. The Ministry’s lack of money have prevented any plan of works to the building, which currently is in a bad state of conservation. The main problems are connected to: damaged floors, water damage, cells that are going to ruin, loss of pigments from the frescoes, etc.
