Archaeological Museum of Chania, Chania

cultural reuse

The Chania Museum has been housed in the church of the Venetian monastery of St. Francis since 1963. It is a Gothic building of the fourteenth century with three naves and vaulted warheads. In the Ottoman period it was converted into a mosque and in the twentieth century in a movie theater. The hexagonal fountain in the garden is to be referred to the turkish period. The museum houses an important collection of Minoan art and it is disposed in chronological order from prehistoric to Roman domination.
